Khalid Usman

Director Human and Institutional Development (DHID)

Mr. Khalid Usman hails from district karak. He has 4 children (2 girls and 2 boys) and holds a Masters degree in finance and management. He is also a certified human rights defender from York University UK.

Throughout his career, he has been associated with numerous national and international organizations and worked at senior management level positions. He serves on the Board of several national NGOs and national networks and coalitions in Pakistan. Currently he is working as Director of Human and Institutional Development (HID) at Khwendo Kor (An NGO working on women’s rights in Pakistan).

Mr. Usman has a very progressive career which specialized him increasingly in the management of complex multi-cultural projects and their staff at Local and national level He has more than 21 years of working experience in development and charitable national and international organizations and corporate sector. He over the years gained excellent experience of strategic, operational, finance and program management of development organizations by applying participatory management techniques and methodologies. The diversity of his career has provided him with the opportunities to enhance his proficiency in different areas of professional competence including but not limited to; communication, presentation, decision making, work with diverse group of people, technical and analytical skills and influencing and negotiating.

Mr. Usman has worked for more than 21 years in the field of human rights in the very remote areas of Pakistan, namely Khyber PakhtoonKhawa and FATA. He feels proud of his association with the women' organization, Khwendo Kor (Sisters' home) has been a witness of and a major contributor to its scaling up into a leading organization of the region. He narrates" At the time of my joining, it was a small initiative and now has expanded to about more than 400 villages of KP and FATA having 8 regional office with full delegation and has became a credible women rights organization in Pakistan. I am delighted to be part of the entire development and institutional strengthening process of Khwendo Kor".

Khwendo Kor is striving hard to empower women in the rural areas of Khyber PakhtoonKhawa and FATA so that they can voice their rights at local and policy level. Mr. Usman's human rights work in Khwendo Kor is mainly concerned with delivering integrated gender and rights based development programmes throughout Khyber PakhtoonKhawa and FATA. The focus of his work is to facilitate women in increasing their access to basic human rights through integrated development programmes which include education, health, social organization and mobilization, sustainable livelihood, policy advocacy and relief and rehabilitation, with gender, networking and poverty as cross-cutting themes. Women’s rights and protection against gender-based violence is central to all interventions.
